Philip Dunne, MP, visits Vision Homes Association
Service users and staff at Vision Homes Association’s residential care homes in Ludlow were today delighted to welcome Mr Philip Dunne for a brief visit. Mr Dunne spent an hour chatting over lunch and his company was very much enjoyed by all.
VHA had invited Mr Dunne to visit in order to tell him about the work of the charity in supporting people who are blind and have additional, often profound, disabilities.
In supporting the people who live in three care homes in Ludlow, VHA aims to help each of them to develop their own individual lifestyle and to enable them to do as many of the things they enjoy as possible. For some service users this means visits to the pub or local restaurants, whilst others prefer to create works of art in VHA’s Loudwater Art Studio. All service users are encouraged and supported to be engaged in the running of their own home – this includes menu planning and shopping and involvement in other regular chores.
VHA staff are on duty twenty four hours a day and making sure all these hours are appropriately staffed makes VHA one of the largest employers in the area. The organisation provides extensive training for all members of staff to ensure they are fully equipped to provide the support that is needed by people who have complex needs to be able to live a fulfilling and valued life.
All those who met with Mr Dunne would like to thank him for making the time to visit and for his interest in VHA.
